Let's start a indie rock band
and write songs with nautical themes,
songs with really long titles that could pass
so easily for Willy Wonka memes.

Let's make big, big plans,
plans that will never probably happen,
let's be small town kids
content with what life hands them.

I said, "This is a song that I wrote, trying to sound like Tigers Jaw"
but it turned into: "these are the thoughts that I thought,
while driving to work in my car."
And those thoughts go: blah, blah, blah

Someday we'll tell our kids
about the hours we spent staring at screens on phones,
someday we'll worry about our kids
and whether they know the difference between being lonely and being alone

It's time for us to face the facts,
that some of us are meant for shame more than glory,
that some of us are meant to play the townspeople
